The Milwaukee Brewers were founded in 1970 when Bud Selig, a local car dealer, bought the already bankrupt
Seattle Pilots, and moved them to Milwaukee. After the move, he changed the team's name to "The Milwaukee Brewers".
The team is named for Milwaukee's rich history as a major beer-brewing Capital.
The iconic Brewers logo was created by a student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1977, who won a design
contest. The logo looks like a simple baseball glove with a ball in the center. But the fingers of the glove make up an "M"
for Milwaukee and the thumb/palm create the letter "B" for Brewers, which make up the initials for the Milwaukee Brewers.
This design replaced the original "Barrelman" logo.
The Brewers have only made one World Series appearance, which was all the way back in 1982, which they unfortunately
lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in a seven-game series. In most recent years, the Brewers have made it to the playoffs 7 out
of the last 8 seasons. They have yet to win a world series.
